This action thriller involves terrorists and bombings in the heart of London. This story is based on a case about an Arabic suspect in the bombing of the Market sector of London. It also includes spies engaged in the terrorist cell and the participation of MI6.
After a terrorist bombing in the Market sector of London that kills 120 people the police are frantically looking for the person who did this. An arrest occurs of an Arabic suspect, Farroukh Erdogan (Denis Moschitto), which will be the case of the century. Sixth months have passed and the legal representative, Simon Fellowes (James Lowe), the defense advocate, is found dead for an apparent suicide attempt. A new legal team is put together and Martin Rose (Eric Bana) becomes the new Defense Advocate, and must team up with Claudia Simmons-Howe (Rebecca Hall), the special advocate, and try to help their client have a fair trial.
Hired by the Attorney General (Jim Broadbent), after a recommendation from his boss Devlin (Ciarán Hinds), Martin begins the case where his predecessor Simon left off. As he investigates the case he finds, with help from reporter Joanna Reece (Julia Stiles), that Simon may have actually been murdered. With danger at every turn Martin must try to discover what really happened and what the involvement of Farroukh may have actually had.
Claudia is researching the case through the files and records kept by the investigation team and its ties to the secret service or MI6. She must also try to discover the involvement of Farroukh and also try to unearth any information from the family, especially the son, Emir Erdogan (Hasancan Cifci), who seems to know more about what happened then expected. As she gets closer to the secret behind this case she finds that her life may be in jeopardy as she presses further.
Director John Crowley, put together an amazing masterpiece that will keep you guessing throughout. It is a well written story (Steven Knight) that was presented well and keeps the viewer wondering if this can happen in today’s society. The special effects were well placed in the story and helped make it seem realistic. All in all this is a worthwhile film to go see since you are sure to be entertained.
Final Grade: I give this an A for its excellent storyline and well placed special effects.
