Cleveland Metroparks Chalet Toboggan Chutes return for another year of icy fun
For most of us, Thanksgiving is a four day holiday that gives us a chance to work off all those extra calories that we piled on with the holiday dinner. Since you have all that time on your hand, why not plan a visit to the Cleveland Metroparks Chalet Toboggan Chutes in Strongsville.
On Friday, November 29, 2013, the Toboggan Chutes will officially open with special holiday hours of noon to 10:30 p.m. The twin refrigerated (no need to worry if it is cold enough outside for the ride) ice chutes measure around 700 feet long with an initial vertical drop of 70 feet. Think of it as an icy roller coaster with just one hill. It will still get your blood pumping.
Now for the best part. In the past you had to lug the 40 pound toboggan allllll the way up the stairs to the top of the chute. This is a thing of the past. Now, Cleveland Metroparks Chalet staff will load and unload the toboggan lift. All you do is walk up the stairs to the top of the chutes, get loaded on the toboggan and off (or down) you go.
This season’s public tobogganing hours are
6:00 – 10:00 p.m.
(in January, February and March 2014)
6:00 – 10:30 p.m.
noon to 10:30 p.m.
noon to 5:00 p.m.
