There are several festivals in the Chicago area celebrating the Labor Day weekend, a popular weekend to get out and party because for many it is a three-day weekend. Following are overviews of fests in Buffalo Grove, DeKalb, Lake in the Hills, Lemont, Melrose Park, Schaumburg and Yorkville.

Chicago: Taste of Polonia, the largest Polish celebration in the nation, is held in the Jefferson Park neighborhood Fri.-Mon., Aug. 30-31 and Sept. 1-2. The ethnic celebration of Polish culture includes food, music, entertainment and more. Taste of Polonia fest in Chicago on Labor Day weekend
Chicago: Chicago Jazz Festival at Millennium Park in Chicago runs Aug.29-31 and Sept. 1.
Buffalo Grove: Buffalo Grove Days, in the northwestern suburbs of Chicago, runs Thurs.-Mon., Aug. 29-31 and Sept. 1-2. Highlights include the arts and crafts, musical entertainment, carnival rides, food, beer, parade and fireworks. DeKalb: DeKalb Cornfest is a three day festival running Sat., Sun. and Mon., Aug. 30-31 and Sept. 1. Activities include carnival rides, Auto Fest (Sat. 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.), Kids Fest, beer garden and music by live bands. Headliners include: Back Country Roads (Fri. 9:30-11 p.m.), Hi-Infidelity (Sat. 9-11 p.m.) and Josh Thompson (Sun. 4:30-6 p.m.).
Lake in the Hills: Summer Sunset Festival, in the far northwestern suburbs of Chicago, runs Fri.-Sun., Aug.30-31 and Sept. 1. Lemont: Keepataw Days Festival is a four day fest that runs Fri.-Mon., Aug. 30-31 and Sept. 1-2. The fest features carnival rides, food, beer tent, music and family activities. 65th Annual Keepataw Days Parade, themed Retro 60s is on Mon. (1 p.m.). Musical headliners include: Blackened (Fri. 9-11:30 p.m.), Hill Billy Rock Stars (Sat. 9-11:30 p.m.), Mellencougars (Sun. 6-8:30 p.m.), Infinity (Sun. 8:30-11:30 p.m.) and Legendary Rockstars (Mon. 6-8:30 p.m.).
Melrose Park: 32nd Taste of Melrose Park runs Fri.-Sun., Aug. 30-31 and Sept. 1. The large neighborhood street festival features food made by residents, music, rides and family friendly entertainment. The Salute to America Fireworks show is on Sun. night. 32nd Taste of Melrose Park food fest on Labor Day weekend.
Schaumburg: 43rd Annual Septemberfest is a large fest in Schaumburg that runs Sat.-Sun. and Mon., Aug. 31 and Sept. 1-2. The fest features a large arts and crafts show, Taste of Schaumburg food tent, beer, carnival rides and musical entertainment on four stages. The community also holds a parade and fireworks show. 43rd Annual Septemberfest in Schaumburg on Labor Day weekend.
Yorkville: Hometown Days is a four day fest that runs Thurs.-Sun., Aug 29-30-31 and Sept. 1 at 908 Game Farm Rd.in Yorkville, in the southern suburbs of Chicago. The family fest features carnival rides, music, food. Band lineup includes: Red Woody (Thurs. 7-9 p.m.), American English (Fri. 7-9:30 p.m.), Billy Croft & the Five Alarm (Sat. 3:30-6:30 p.m.), Mike & Joe (Sat. 8-11 p.m.), Cool Rockin’ Daddies (Sun. 4-6 p.m.) and Hi-Infidelity (Sun. 7-10 p.m.).
