There is no doubt that your lips are one of the most prominent and noticeable features of your face; therefore you have to take extra care of them so that they look beautiful and pleasing to the eye. Conditions like dry or chapped lips, darkened or cracked lips not only look bad, but also affect the overall beauty of your face.
There are many factors that can cause these conditions, such as your habit of licking your lips, dry or cold weather, dehydration, medications, and the most common reason, sunlight. The skin of your lips is more sensitive as compared to the rest of your skin; therefore, it can lose its natural oils and moisturizer very quickly and easily in cold, dry weather and due to sunlight. But the good news is that you don’t have to go for difficult procedures and surgeries to have beautiful lips; there are many simple and easy methods that can help you combat almost all the lip damaging causes.
Keep them hydrated
The key to beautiful lips is keeping them hydrated. This can be done by drinking lots of water every day and using a lip moisturizer on a regular basis. Using petroleum jelly or oil for this purpose is an extremely useful way of keeping your lips moisturized. You must apply a nice thin layer of conditioner as soon as your lips start to feel dry. There is no limit to how many times you can use it on your lips in a single day. You have to be extra careful in cold weather, because it can dry your lips very quickly. Do not lick your lips though, as that does more harm than good for dry lips.
Use olive oil for your lips
One of the most useful oils for your lips is olive oil. Not only does it keep your lips moisturized, but also can do the job of an exfoliator by removing your lips’ skin’s dead cells. It can be applied on your lips as a hydrating agent. To exfoliate, you can also add a little sugar to olive oil and make a paste, then apply this paste on your lips and rub it gently for a few minutes. Your lips will become softer after this application.
Protect your lips from sun
Sunlight, UV rays are the biggest reason for premature lip wrinkles and aging lines. You must take extra care while going out in the sun. You should wear lipsticks with sun screen in them while going out. Protecting your lips from the sun will keep them fresh and younger looking for a long time.
One of the most effective ways to keep your lips pink and plump is to exfoliate them. An easy way to do so is by using your toothbrush. After you brush your teeth before going to bed, wash your toothbrush and rub it very gently in circular motion on your lips. Do this for at least 2 minutes; now rinse your mouth and apply petroleum jelly or a good quality lip balm on your lips. Do this at least three times every week.
Take your vitamins
You should eat diet rich in vitamins. Vitamin C, E and B are very important to have luscious and healthy looking pink lips.
Remember, you don’t have to go for expensive and risky lip treatments to have beautiful lips. These few simple and easy methods will do wonders to improve the condition of your lips and keep them from becoming dry and cracked.
