“Call of Duty: Ghosts” is at the top of the most wanted list according to a report released yesterday. Whether talking about the Xbox One, or the Playstation 4 the squad-based shooter is the most popular game when it comes to pre-orders for next generation consoles.
It appears that Call of Duty has benefitted greatly from a media blitz that included a launch trailer, well ahead of launch. This media blitz has made it possible for “Ghosts” to beat out “Battlefield 4” among others.
That is no small feat, considering just how much excitement “Battlefield” has been generating over the last few months.
The report, issued by VGChartz shows that when it comes to the console that has the highest total pre-orders logged so far, Sony has edged out Microsoft. Oddly enough, the Xbox One has currently amassed over 40,000 more pre-orders for “Call of Duty” than the PS4.
“Battlefield 4” was second on both pre-order charts but sold more on the Playstation 4 by an overwhelming 273,766 to 153,221. Likewise, “Assassin’s Creed IV” was in the top five for both consoles (3rd for Xbox One, 4th for PS4) but has seen almost 80,000 more copies reserved on Sony’s next generation console.
The news that “Call of Duty: Ghosts” has made the top of the list for next gen consoles has to be good news considering that it hasn’t been doing nearly as well for current generation consoles. Infinity Ward claimed that the transition to the new consoles was the culprit for the low sales numbers and that appears to at least be partially true.
Check out the top 10 pre-orders for both next generation consoles and then check out the video above, showing off the gameplay for “Call of Duty: Ghosts”.
