WALKING FOR BUDDY CENTER – More than 1,500 people and 750 dogs walked in the Dumb Friends League’s ninth annual Wag ‘n Trail event Sept. 23 at the Glendale Farm Open Space trail, raising more than $145,000 for the league’s Buddy Center in Castle Rock.
The funds raised will help provide shelter and care for as many as 4,000 homeless cats, dogs and other small pets that come to the Buddy Center each year.

COMFORT FOR CANINES – The president of the Grey Muzzle Organization is trying to raise $3,000 to help provide dog beds for senior dogs in shelters. Jennifer Kachnic, a Colorado resident, said that cement floors in shelters are particularly uncomfortable for older dogs.

CARS AND CRITTERS – A one-of-a-kind car collection will be featured Oct. 19 at CATillacs & FURraris, a benefit for the Humane Society of Boulder Valley . On view will be Stephen Tebo’s one-of-a-kind car collection featuring more than 300 antique and classic motor vehicles – including John Lennon’s Rolls Royce, Steve McQueen’s Indian Chief and Frank Sinatra’s Jeep.
The event will be in Longmont from 6 to 9 p.m. It will include the blues, jazz, and country stylings of The Bluezzers as well as food and drinks. Due to its exclusive nature, the exact location of the event will not be disclosed until Oct. 10.
TOP CAT & TAILS – Tickets and tables are available for Larimer Humane Society’s Top Cat & Tails Gala, “Catsino Royale,” to be held Saturday, Oct.12 at Embassy Suites Loveland. It is Larimer Humane Society’s largest fundraiser of the year.
The evening will include dining and live entertainment. An adoptable pet parade will feature Miss Moneypenny, James Bond and others available for adoption, followed by live and silent auctions. The event will be hosted by Lisa Hidalgo of The Denver Channel Weather Team and Al Malmberg, host of KCOL Mornings.

HOWLING GALA – The third annual Friends of Douglas County K-9 fundraising gala, “Howling Good Time,” will be held at Cielo at Castle Pines on Oct.10 at 6 p.m. The event will benefit the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit by raising funds to purchase new animals and appropriate safety gear and provide for ongoing training and care.
Denver comedian Chris Voth will emcee the event. Voth appeared in three seasons of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.” Tickets and information: k9friends.org/
DENKAI UNCORKED – Denkai Animal Sanctuary will hold a wine tasting and art auction on Saturday, Oct. 19 in Littleton from 7 until 10 p.m. The event was rescheduled from an earlier date due to flooding. All of the art stems from Denkai’s nine years in operation. Each piece tells a story and consists of the animals rescued by Denkai. The event will be at 1800 W. Oxford, unit B,C and D.
