The parents of Bryce Laspisa plan to hold a vigil for their missing son in Illinois to shine a light for him so he can see “the way home,” according to a Sept. 28, 2013 Daily Herald report.
Bryce graduated from Naperville Central High School, thus Naperville residents are asked to attend the event, which is slated to take place on Monday night at 8 p.m. at Frontier Park. Attendees are asked to wear orange or white in honor of the missing California student.
According to the Herald, 400 glow sticks will be given out at the vigil, which will “coincide with one or two other vigils” to take place in California. People who attend have also been asked to use their cell phones to “light the night,” however, no candles are allowed.
Bryce’s 2003 pickup truck was found on the side of Main Ramp Road near Castaic Lake, California on the morning of Aug. 30 with its rear window smashed. The missing man’s cell phone and wallet were still inside, and a little blood was found in the vehicle.
Authorities say Bryce called his parents from Buttonwillow in Kern County just hours before the accident, saying he was tired and was going to pull off the freeway to get some sleep.
He lives in Roseville and attends Sierra College near Sacramento, but was driving to Orange County to visit his parents.
Authorities have announced they believeBryce walked away from the crash and likely made his way onto rough terrain covered with rocks, sand, and sharp brush. A scent led them toward the lake, but then went cold.
After conducting exhaustive searches for Bryce, law enforcement announced on Sept. 12 it was scaling back efforts to find him.
Bryce Laspisa is described as white with red hair and blue eyes, is 5-feet-11 and weighs about 170 pounds. He also has a tattoo of a bull’s head with a Roman numeral on his left shoulder, and was last seen wearing white cargo shorts, a blue-and-white checkered shirt and white-and-red Nike shoes.
Anyone with information about the Bryce Laspisa case is asked to call Det. Chris Carns at 323- 890-5500.
