On Oct. 31, 2013, ITV announced that it is televising a one-hour TV special titled “Boyzone at 20: No Matter What,” which is a show celebrating Boyzone’s 20th anniversary. The special will be televised in November 2013 on a time and date to be announced.
Dannii Minogue is hosting the special. She and Boyzone member Ronan Keating are judges on “The X Factor” Australia. Keating became a judge on “The X Factor” Australia in 2010, while Minogue joined the show’s judging panel in 2013. Before she became a judge on “The X Factor” Australia, Minogue was a judge on “The X Factor” U.K. (from 2007 to 2010) and “Australia’s Got Talent” (from 2007 to 2012).
According to an ITV press release, Boyzone will perform on “Boyzone at 20: No Matter What.” Mel C (also known as Sporty Spice of the Spice Girls) will team up with Boyzone to perform the Boyzone hit “No Matter What.” The special will also include a tribute to Stephen Gateley, the Boyzone member who died in 2009 of a pulmonary edema resulting from an undiagnosed heart condition. The surviving members of Boyzone are Keating, Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham and Shane Lynch.
Boyzone commented in the press release: “To have been together for twenty years is fantastic, and this is the perfect way for us to celebrate our milestone. We love performing in front of an audience and we can’t wait to sing some of our classics once again, as well as offering our audiences something new.”
Minogue added, “I’m really looking forward to being back in the UK and hosting this show for some of the loveliest guys in pop. Twenty years of Boyzone, what an incredible career. It will be a night of pop music to remember.”
Boyzone’s 20th anniversary album, “BZ20,” is set for release in Europe on Nov. 25, 2013.
