There is no doubt this has been one of the most spectacular stretches of weather in recent memory. The past two weeks have offered us an opportunity to enjoy New England weather at its best. Now, for those of us that want that occasional storm to keep things interesting this has certainly been a boring period of weather, but with Autumn here, October just around the corner and you know what comes in a couple of months there will be plenty of opportunity for some storminess. We are keeping an eye toward the Atlantic for early next week as a developing ocean storm may brush southeastern Massachusetts at that time.
For now, high pressure continues to dominate our weather into the upcoming weekend. Cool nights, mild afternoons and mostly sunny days will be featured through Sunday. With the high centered overhead through most of the weekend this is a can’t miss weekend for beautiful weather. There will be an ocean breeze keeping temperatures cooler along the coastal communities but certainly nothing that will taint the beautiful weather conditions.
The ocean storm develops well offshore, near Bermuda, over the weekend and then tracks northward toward the open waters well southeast of Nantucket Island by Monday morning. Latest computer guidance has this missing most of southern New England, however there is a possibility that showers on the peripheral edge of the system sneak in here Monday and or Monday night. The further away from the coast you are the less chance of seeing any precipitation since the coast will have the better chance for any showers or even a period of steadier light rain. Along with the chance of rain will come a chance for gusty breezes along the coast as well. It has been a dry month and rain would be welcome to the area. This is a tricky forecast for early next week and it can change for better or worse with a change in the storm track so do stay tuned.
By Tuesday the storm will be churning toward the coast of Nova Scotia as it turns northeast. High pressure follows by mid week and another spell of dry weather returns.
