Forecast discussion: Despite some cloud cover and minor showers Wednesday morning, it was not a bad weather day over Boston. Eventually, the skies began to clear, allowing for some sunshine this afternoon. High pressure over the area will keep skies partly cloudy at Fenway tonight. But, a low pressure system making its way towards the east will make for some wet and windy weather, starting Halloween night.
As we progress through the day, a warm front will slowly work its way towards New England. Temperatures will increase to near 60 this afternoon, but we will see an increased risk for showers as we move through the day. I feel the shower activity will remain scattered as the kids make their way out for treats. Also, the Red Sox should get a Game 7 in, if necessary. We will see increased rainfall and winds after midnight, as we begin to feel the full brunt of this storm. Rain may be heavy at times, especially during the morning commute on Friday. Winds and precipitation will decrease through the day, as the cold front slowly moves offshore.
The front will remain to our south on Saturday, but we will see a lull in between the precipitation. However, the computer models suggest that a weak disturbance forming over the eastern Great Lakes behind the front could bring an isolated shower during the day. The models suggest dry weather, but the American model brings some showers over the area Saturday night into Sunday. For now, I will keep the risk of showers in the forecast, until I see more information tomorrow night.
By Sunday evening, it will be darker a little earlier, as we set the clocks back one hour Sunday morning. However, by this time, high pressure to our west will bring us back to seasonable temperatures and sunshine. But, an upper level ridge will slowly work its way towards the eastern U.S. This allows warmer air from the south to move northward. Our temperatures will spike to above normal temperatures by Tuesday, as we reach the lower 50’s, with highs reaching 60 degrees by next Wednesday.
