Forecast discussion: Over the next several days, we will be seeing more clouds and the risk of showers over Boston. Also, we will begin to see our temperatures slowly fall as we head into early next week.
As we head into tonight, partly cloudy skies will change to mostly cloudy skies, thanks to a weak area of low pressure well off the coast of North Carolina. The Cape and Islands may see some showers, while the interior will see cloudy skies and a widely isolated shower. Skies will remain mostly cloudy into Wednesday evening before a cold front in the central U.S. makes its way towards the east coast. We will see some showers by Thursday morning, but the precipitation will end just as quickly as it began. By Thursday afternoon, we may even see some sunshine.
However, we will return to wet weather, as a disturbance behind the low moves quickly into New England Thursday night. Showers will arrive well after midnight, and will remain with us through Friday morning. However, the precipitation will move offshore by the early afternoon, with some possible sunshine before the evening commute. However, we will see the last of temperatures in the upper 60’s.
This is due to a high pressure system coming down from eastern Canada. The weather models are showing that cooler air will dive into Southern New England, and temperatures will struggle to reach the lower 60’s for highs on Saturday. A new cold front may bring some showers by Sunday morning. A new high pressure system will bring sunshine by Monday, with temperatures trying to reach 60 degrees. A weak cold front may bring the risk of some showers by Tuesday afternoon.
