Living a wonderfully healthy and productive spiritual life requires effort. As growth occurs, however, the tendency is to look for external sources of happiness. It can become a slippery path leading to disillusionment and loss of hope in ever finding and sustaining what was really always hidden within the soul.
The source is found by turning inward, with focused intention, to the place where Silence is heard; this is where all truth and lasting happiness exists. It is a personal choice to start walking, as “The path gets illuminated through surrendering the moment to the highest Source of Love within.”
Valuable, life changing lessons can be learned. It is never too late to pay attention to the sharing and benefits based in the cumulative experiences and practical knowledge of those who have walked ahead, who are paving the way for those with willingness to follow in their footsteps. It is never too late to joyfully practice with this thought each day:
“I will step back and let Him lead the way, for I would walk along the road to Him.” (-Pathways of Light)
Get Rolling & Maintain Momentum. Using an analogy, close your eyes and picture a tricycle: “In childhood an adult caregiver showed how the tricycle worked, and then let practice lead the way. Learning is accomplished one step at a time. While help can come in finding the pedals, brakes and handlebars to get the idea, it is with encouragement and self-practice that the skill is mastered. As each step is mastered, one is eager to move on to the next step. Further, perhaps the tricycle becomes a two-wheeler becomes a car with great power. No matter the vehicle, the process of learning; it is the same. In the spiritual life, this analogy is useful because the vehicle for growth and the gifts of mastery do not appear until one has demonstrated to Spirit an inner readiness, and no sooner.”
Taking Care: The Top Priority List. It is wise to think of it as cross-training! Take the step-by-step necessary to develop health inside, along with strength and fitness on the outside. Attention is at the top of the priority list, no matter the significance of an action. This is followed by consistency of the action – sleep, work, eat, and service to others, etc. According to holistic wellness experts, there are several key drivers for successful outcomes:
- Maintain a positive mental attitude.
- Engage in regular physical and mental activities.
- Healthful food choices.
- Spiritual beliefs.
- Strong sense of community.
Clean-up and clear-out across all areas the things that no longer serve. Watchfulness related to the quality of thoughts is next on this list, since every experience has meaning; it is best to impress positive affirmations to memory.
Angels of Inspiration. Specifically working toward goals provides a lasting sense of accomplishment, or it has also been said: Att-one-ment. When guided by free choice, the changes made lead to only positive experiences. One is surrounded by angelic thoughts, and when the soul contains the essence of all light; God visits within. Listen for the messages from Spirit for God is nearby to help carry any burden. Look for the signs in everyday life, as shared in this true story about Walking in the Sand:
“Breaking sunlight danced on the water. Waves rolled up to kiss the shore, powerful and gentle all at once, just like God. Yet, His closeness it eluded me now. It seemed almost too much to ask for a sign. How could God care about my small life?”
“I walked along the water line, where shells and tiny rocks tumbled over my toes. I kicked up a lump of coral. A white shell stuck up out of the sand. It was heart-shaped with a smaller red heart seemingly painted in the center. I had never seen such a shell! I bent over to pick it up. One touch and I was filled with the most wonderful reassurance, as if God himself had whispered, ‘I love you, Dear One.”
“I cupped the shell in my hand and kept walking. There were pieces of coral catching my eye, so I bent down to collect each shell. To my amazement, shells shaped in the letters of my name, now in my hand. There were no other coral pieces in my path. One more powerful and more beautiful than the ocean wanted me to know that He cared for me by name.”
Remembering Soul Nature. In order to calm any pendulum swings and smooth the pathway, it is good to view reinvention as the remembrance of soul nature. Listening and being receptive in the present moment for messages from Spirit; it can also include the highest of all art forms. Meditation is the connection to recalling the forgotten True (High) Self. Often neglected, it is when the pure Spirit within is understood through right behavior and living that life’s tests are buffered, and then with strength and courage as momentum, the switch of Divinity is turned on. Its sacred presence is demonstrated as an outward radiance that shines brightest light from deep within a soul.
Affirmation: “Teach me to open the gate of meditation that leads to Thy blessed presence. Teach me to behold Thy face in the mirror of my inner stillness.” (-SRF Lessons)
