Fall is just around the corner, it’s clearly evident as there are sure tell-tale signs wherever I turn: kids going back to school, football season is beginning, make-shift Halloween costume stores popping up sporadically around town, and shark-week is over. Summertime music festivals have concluded and it’s now it’s time to turn the stereo all the way up and share your taste in rock music with your neighbors. Let’s see what those speakers are made of.
If your looking for something new to put in that cd player and rattle the windows with but you’re not sure what to get, here’s a list to get you started. Say hello to the nice police officer for me!
Avenged Sevenfold – Hail to the King
Avenged Sevenfold – Hail to the King: These rockers from Huntington Beach, Calif. Have just released their best album yet. Its title track has a guitar intro reminiscent of “Thunderstruck”. Lead singer M. Shadows voice is as strong as ever, yet very controlled. The guitars are off the charts here, almost hypnotizing. Watch out for hottie neighbors walking in in a trance-like state to your front door.
Five Finger Death Punch – The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell (Volume 1)
Five Finger Death Punch – The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell (Volume 1): Their deep, thunderous sound will be a true test for your subwoofers. Perfect for a Halloween party, and don’t be surprised if an all-out mosh pit breaks out right in your front yard!
Gemini Syndrome – Lux
Gemini Syndrome – Lux: There are so many great songs on here, this debut album could qualify for a greatest hits record by many other band’s standards. Big things are on the horizon for these Los Angeles-based boys. Crank this up during halftime on Sunday afternoon football and watch all the neighbors come out head-banging in unison!
Redlight King – Irons in the Fire
Redlight King – Irons in the Fire: Kaz and Jules have outdone themselves with their follow-up to Something for the Pain. Their first single, “Born to Rise” is climbing the charts fast. It really showcases this Canadian band’s ingenuity and creativity. If the rest of the album is as good as that, we’re all in for a special treat. Their sound is crisp and clean, just like the Autumn air. Perfect for gathering friends together!
Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington
Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington – High Rise: Let’s put all the legal past aside and face the fact that S.T.P. has a new singer with Chester Bennington. That being said, we all know that Chester has some serious pipes. Judging by their first single, “Out of Time”, his voice seems to fit in perfectly with the rest of the group. I like the direction they’re going and look forward to hearing the rest. Blew out the speakers at home already? Let’s try the car! This would be great as a tailgating album before heading into the big game to watch 300-pound men crack heads together. You might want to bring extra wings and brats as you’re sure to gather a crowd!
