Ok, bacon – we love it and it’s great, but really there are three simple ways to cook it: stove top, oven and microwave.
Now, normally people like to heat up a skillet and throw bacon in it and put a splatter screen over it and flip it as it cooks so that it crisps but doesn’t burn. Now, each piece of bacon takes different times to cook, but if you flip it multiple times you can keep it from burning. Also, as you cook it you will get a nice build up of hot fat to help cook the next slices. Don’t overload the pan and just take your time. Remember to remove it to a paper towel coated plate to drain.
Cooking it in the oven can make it less fatty as it drains off as it cooks. Basically line it up on a sheet tray and fire up the oven at 350 and put it in there for about 20 minutes. Pull it out and put it on paper towel covered plates to dry. The bonus is that you can cook more bacon at one time, the con is that it doesn’t always get that super crispy that comes from the fat it can cook in.
The microwave is the easiest option, put raw bacon on a towel covered plate and then put it in the microwave for about 5-10 minutes checking on it as you went. Overall this can be a quick and easy way to make bacon, but there is one important thing to remember – when the bacon is done, pull it from the paper towels. If you let it sit it can become hard to extricate from the paper.
