October can mean only one thing in the Dallas, TX area for thousands of comic book, movie, and TV fans. It’s time for the annual Dallas Fan Days event at the Irving Convention Center. Every year the geek gathering continues to grow with an ever-increasing variety of comic book writers and artists and media celebrities. 2013 looks to top all the past years and raise the bar for local conventions across all genres.
Dallas Fan Days once catered strictly to “Star Wars” and “Star Trek” fans. However, it continues to broaden its horizons by featuring guests this year from movies and TV shows like “Arrow,” “Hellboy,” “Pacific Rim,” “Terminator 2: Judgment Day,” “Friday the 13th,” “The Walking Dead,” and “Napoleon Dynamite” to name a few. It’s a guarantee that there’s someone for any enthusiast of every genre to meet or see.
There are way too many guests to go into detail for each of them. Ron Perlman of “Hellboy” fame will be in attendance. Napoleon Dynamite himself, Jon Heder, will be gracing us with his presence. Michael Rosenbaum will be leaving the comforts of “Smallville” to meet and greet fans. Tom Felton will take a holiday from Hogwarts to cast a spell over “Harry Potter” addicts.

“Star Wars” fans need not be in distress, though. The charming Anthony Daniels (C-3PO in the “Star Wars” movies”) will be greeting his admirers. Peter Mayhew comes out from behind the mask to meet Chewbacca devotees. It will only take a few familiar lines uttered to recognize attendee Tom Kane’s voice as the man who portrayed Yoda on “The Clone Wars.” Last, but certainly not least, is Daniel Logan, who played young Boba Fett in both “Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones” and “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” is gracing our presence.
Comic book guests are in great abundance as well. Legendary Batman artist Neal Adams will be in attendance. Wolverine co-creator Herb Trimpe is appearing as well. Lobo and Batman/Judge Dredd artist Simon Bisley comes to Dallas for the first time for 2013’s Fan Days. Kelley Jones and Graham Nolan, both Batman artists instrumental in several groundbreaking Bane stories that inspired “The Dark Knight Rises,” will meet and sign books for fans.
