Go to a kid, free zone (closet, bathroom, etc) Log onto youtube.com and search funny videos There is nothing like watching these to help you forget your troubles.
Light some candles, pour a glass of wine and soak your problems away. Dirty bathroom, kids clutter & toys? Plan this on bathroom cleaning day to ensure your quick enjoyment of this small luxury.
Arrive early to pick up your child at school. Watch those funny videos, read a book, close your eyes or journal. The opportunities are endless.
Sing a Song
Turn on the radio, find the mp3 player and belt out your favorite song. Whether in the car (maybe not in the carpool line), in the kitchen or in the shower. Sing, sing a song. Hairbrush optional
Wake up Early
May not sound appealing at first by trading sleep for a few minutes of solitude. But this is a great way to get centered before the day ahead begins.
Bake some cookies
Baking, a fun stress reliever, has two great outcomes. First, you will have a delicious treat to share with your family. Second, you can freeze some cookie dough . When you need a chocolate fix preheat your oven, pop in a cookie or 2, sneak away and Enjoy!
Take a nap
A good afternoon rest is no longer just for your toddlers. Find a cozy couch or chair and burrow under a light blanket – you are not being lazy it is mommy survival.
Table for one
Order your favorite take out or cook your special dinner that no one appreciates except you. Set your table with flowers and candles. Sit at the table and enjoy before the kids come and devour there mac and cheese.
Soak up the sun
Run outside with a glass of iced tea and catch the rays. Quickly pretend you are on a deserted beach waving (I crack myself up) your cares goodbye.
Moment of Desperation
Point outside and yell to your child, Look it is _________ (your child’s favorite character) Your child’s shoes & coat will fly on as they head for the door. Your child may be distracted for at least a minute of two.
