There are a lot of family-friendly places to enjoy in Lynchburg. Some are suitable for older kids, some for younger kids and some for the entire family.

Amazement Square is located at 27 Ninth Street in downtown Lynchburg. There are hands-on activities for kids of all ages at Amazement Square. Join your kids in the four-story Amazement Tower, create your own rock band, nurture your child’s creativity in the Kaleidoscope art studio and visit the Big Red Barn area with your preschoolers.
Kids Cove is located inside Thomas Road Baptist Church. The free play area is open for kids 10 years old and younger. Your kids can climb and slide any day at Kids Cove. This is a great place to play on rainy days.
Bounce About is Lynchburg’s largest inflatable indoor playground. Located at River Ridge Mall, kids ages 12 and under can enjoy walk-in playtime on from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays. There’s a separate play area for kids ages 3 and under and a parent lounge so you can watch.
Riverside Park is one of the best local parks for younger kids. Since the addition of the Sprayground and Playcore play areas, there’s a lot for little ones to explore. Kids will love the historic train display too. Bring bikes to ride on the paved trails in the park or take a hike on the wooded trails.
Lynchburg Public Library offers storytime for preschool kids during the school year. Register your child at the Youth Services Desk for Babygarten, Tales for Twos and Preschool Pizzaza and check out the great selection of books for kids of all ages.
Nature Zone is located on the bottom level of the Amtrak Station on Kemper Street. Your kids will enjoy seeing the turtles, frogs, snakes and other creatures at Nature Zone. There are lots of hands-on activities for the kids too. Nature Zone is open on Wednesdays from 3 p.m. to dusk, Fridays from noon to 6 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
All Fired Up is located at 18478 Forest Road in Forest. Kids of all ages can have fun being creative as they paint their own unique piece of pottery. All Fired up is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Romp n’ Roll is located at 114 Hexham Drive in Wyndhurst. Your child can enjoy gymnastics classes, art lessons, music programs and open gym play at Romp n’ Roll.
FunQuest Family Entertainment Center is located at 327 Graves Mill Road. Enjoy Monday Madness from 4-8:30 for less than two dollars per person, not including skate rentals. Tot Thursdays begin in October at FunQuest. Your preschool kids can bring their favorite riding toy on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to ride on the skating rink floor.
Percival’s Island is a great place to explore with preschoolers. Ride bikes on the walking trail or take the steps down to the edge of the James River.
