by vent wing

Family time spent in the great outdoors is healthy for body, mind, and soul. It brings a family together, ignites a passion for nature and outdoor activity, and it can instill habits in your children that will last a lifetime.

With the warm tropical climate of southwest Florida, there are loads of options to get out and enjoy the sun and fun as a family. When it’s too warm, you can head for the water.

It’s always important to take reasonable safety precautions – such as using sunscreen and staying hydrated. With good common sense, there is no reason you can’t enjoy these adventures with the kids.

Why not make an extra effort to get the family out for some adventure and recreation?

Try some of these ideas for some family fun this weekend.

Try a paddle sport

Many local outfitters will drop you off with your canoe and kayaks or return you to your vehicle once you have completed the run. They can be extremely helpful in preparing you for a day on the river or paddle trail.

If you are an inexperienced paddling family, be sure to stay close to shore or within range of the outfitters. Always make sure someone is aware of your plan and knows when to expect your return – in case of emergency.
